5 Back to College Outfits Lookbook
Going back to (or even starting) college or uni can seem very stressful. As someone who graduated college, I can tell you that one of the most stressful experiences was figuring out what to wear on a daily basis. It's still a re-occurring issue in adult life! However, I have put together 5 outfits that will see you through the first season of your school/college/uni year. I hope that you get some inspo from these outfits and that you can be dressed, less stressed, and ready for that test!
I would like to point out that these outfits are for no specific gender and that you should always wear what fits you and what you feel comfortable in. As a tiny human boy, I often find myself in the women's clothing section as they are a more suited fit for my height.
JUMP(er) for My Love!
I got these knitted jumpers in a summer sale at Urban Outfitters for an absolute bargain and I love the way that they fit me. I instantly fell in love with the colours and I knew that they would be perfect for the upcoming back to school/autumn season. Paired with some black denim jeans and trainers, this is a cosy, casual look that is perfect for studying in and you'll fit right in when you go to that study group in the local coffee shop. You could dress this look up even more by layering it with a shirt and jacket.
SHI(R)T! I'm Late!
Now we've all had that awful morning when we wake up to find we snoozed our alarm 12 times and now only have 10 minutes to get ready, believe me when I say that this will happen more often than not. But do not fear! I have the perfect outfit for you to quickly put together so that no one will ever know you were rushing, you just decided to turn up fashionably late. A shirt and a pair of jeans (or skirt) go a long way. This is a vintage Levis shirt that was a hand-me-down from my uncle. You could tuck this in or out depending on your personal style and preference. Pair this with a jacket, some shades and a cup of coffee for the ultimate "roll out of bed" look.
You're So Basic!
Basic tee's are an absolute lifesaver when it comes to dressing for college. Now I have to admit that I am a big fan of a striped tee, you can't go wrong with them, especially when you have them in various colours. A big bonus of these basics is that they are also low cost, so they won't break your bank on those student loans. You can literally where the same outfit almost everyday, your stripes will just be different colours. The best part is that you won't have to put any thought in to this outfit and you'll still look cool. To dress this up, pair with some culottes and a jacket for an ultimate Parisian-chic outfit.
It's Raining Men(swear)!
The back to school season initiates lovely Autumnal vibes, but sadly it brings the bad weather with it. You can expect a lot of rainy days ahead, but how can you wear a stylish outfit in the rain? The answer is simple - Raincoats. I'm all about that 80's vibe right now and I found this jacket at a vintage sale and instantly bought it without a second thought. It's waterproof and folds into a bag, how revolutionary! Wearing an oversized raincoat means you can wear your favourite outfit underneath and you won't be studying in damp clothes. I'd make sure to pack an umbrella with you for that extra precaution.
Cut the Cord(uroy)!
Autumn is a great time to bring out those warm neutrals, browns, reds and yellows. And there's no better way to show off these colours than with an item of corduroy clothing. This could be a pair of trousers, a skirt or dungarees, but personally I always go for a coat/jacket. Some people may say that you only need one corduroy jacket, but I completely disagree, as RuPaul says: "I want one in every colour". Corduroy jackets and coats are the perfect finishing touch to almost any outfit.
And those are my 5 outfits that will see you through the first season of your school/college/uni year. If you choose to wear any of these outfits or at least gain some inspiration from them, please tag me on Instagram and use the hashtag #TateWolversonBTSO I can't wait to see them.
